IoT & Connectivity from Rostock

IoT & Connectivity

IoT SIM cards, LoRaWAN gateways and connectivity consulting. We run the same infrastructure for our own trackers – and know what works in the field.

In brief

What IoT connectivity does Autoskope offer?

Autoskope offers IoT connectivity from a single source: M2M-optimised IoT SIM cards covering 181 countries (NB-IoT, LTE Cat M1), our own LoRaWAN and Helium gateways in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, plus advice on the right radio technology for your use case. Whether asset tracking, environmental monitoring, smart building or agriculture – we help with selection, integration and long-term operation. We run the same infrastructure for our own GPS tracker fleet, so we know what actually works in the field: range, building penetration and battery life matter more than the datasheet. From a single sensor to area-wide coverage, you get a solution that fits your devices and budget – with contacts in Rostock.

Advice & operation

Proven on Our Own GPS Tracker Fleet

Our IoT expertise is not theoretical: The Autoskope V3 GPS tracker uses NB-IoT and LTE Cat M1 for data transmission, Galileo and GPS for positioning, and LoRaWAN as an additional communication channel. We manage thousands of SIM cards in 181 countries and operate our own LoRaWAN gateways in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. We make this infrastructure and experience available to you.

The Right Technology for Your Use Case

Every IoT application has different requirements for range, data rate and power consumption. We help you choose the right technology.

NB-IoT & LTE Cat M1

Energy-efficient cellular technologies specifically for IoT devices. Low bandwidth, high building penetration, low power consumption – ideal for sensors and trackers.

LoRaWAN

Long Range Wide Area Network for sensor data over large distances. Ranges up to 15 km outdoors with minimal power consumption. We operate our own gateways in MV.

2G/3G/4G/5G Cellular

Classic cellular connectivity for applications with higher data needs. Multi-operator SIM cards for maximum coverage in 181 countries.

One SIM Card. 181 Countries. No Roaming Hassle.

The same SIM cards that reliably connect our GPS trackers in 181 countries are also available for your IoT project.

181 Countries Coverage

Our multi-operator SIM cards automatically roam on the strongest available network. Coverage across all German networks and in 181 countries worldwide.

M2M Optimized

Specifically designed for machine-to-machine communication. No expiry on non-use, automatic reconnection, optimized APN configuration.

Flexible Plans

From pay-per-use for sporadic data transmission to flat rates for permanent connections. No contract lock-in, cancellable monthly.

Secure Connections

VPN options, private APN and encrypted data transmission. Management of all SIM cards through a central portal.

LoRaWAN Ready to Use – No Gateway Investment Required

We operate and expand a LoRaWAN network in the Rostock region. For customers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, this means: immediately usable IoT infrastructure without your own gateway investment.

Own Helium Gateways

We operate multiple Helium gateways in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. These form the foundation for our regional LoRaWAN network and enable applications like asset tracking, environmental monitoring and smart building.

Years Instead of Months Battery Life

LoRaWAN sensors can run on a single battery for several years. Unlike cellular, LoRa uses only minimal energy per transmission – ideal for battery-powered sensors in the field.

EU-Funded Research

As part of an EU co-funded research project, we are investigating the accuracy of LoRaWAN positioning compared to traditional GPS. The results flow directly into our products and consulting.

What You Can Do With It

From vehicle tracking to building management – IoT connectivity opens new possibilities across many industries.

Asset Tracking & Fleet Management

Real-time location tracking of vehicles, containers, machines and tools. GPS-based via cellular or energy-efficient via LoRaWAN.

Environmental & Sensor Monitoring

Temperature, humidity, CO2, soil moisture or water levels – transmit and analyze wireless sensor data in real time.

Smart Building & Facility Management

Room climate monitoring, occupancy detection, energy monitoring and automatic control – all via LoRaWAN without expensive wiring.

Logistics & Cold Chain

Seamless temperature monitoring during transport of sensitive goods. Automatic alerts when thresholds are exceeded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Costs depend on data volume and usage region. We offer flexible models ranging from usage-based pay-per-use for low data usage (typical for trackers and sensors) to flat rates for data-intensive applications. All models are cancellable monthly with no contract lock-in. We use the same SIM service for our own GPS trackers – you benefit from conditions we negotiated for thousands of devices. We provide a transparent, needs-based quote on request.

NB-IoT and LTE Cat M1 are licensed cellular technologies running on existing cell towers. They offer worldwide coverage and are suitable for devices that regularly transmit small to medium amounts of data. LoRaWAN operates in the unlicensed frequency band and requires its own gateways, but offers extremely low power consumption and ranges up to 15 km. We advise you on which technology is optimal for your use case.

Yes, we plan, install and maintain LoRaWAN gateways for your application. This starts with a site analysis to determine optimal placement. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, we already operate our own Helium gateways that you can use – saving you the investment in your own hardware.

A single LoRaWAN gateway can theoretically serve thousands of sensors, as devices only transmit sporadically and for very short periods. In practice, capacity depends on transmission frequency and data volume. For most applications (e.g., temperature logging every 15 minutes), hundreds of sensors per gateway are easily achievable.

Yes, we can deliver the complete IoT solution: sensor hardware, connectivity (SIM or LoRaWAN), gateway infrastructure and, if needed, custom device development. Through our own product development (Autoskope GPS tracker), we have the expertise to develop and manufacture custom IoT devices from PCB to housing.

Our multi-operator SIM cards offer coverage in 181 countries worldwide. In Germany, they automatically roam on the strongest available network from all carriers. Abroad, they connect to local partner networks. We communicate data transmission costs abroad transparently – there are no hidden roaming charges.

We are a partner in an EU co-funded research project investigating the positioning accuracy of LoRaWAN compared to traditional GPS tracking. The goal is to optimize methods such as triangulation, trilateration and multilateration in the LoRa network. This research makes us the ideal partner for projects requiring innovative positioning solutions beyond GPS.
